Accessibility Statement
Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home based, 3 bedroom bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-arrival
- Local transport is very limited but there is a bus service from Salisbury, through East Tytherley, to Romsey. The bus is a 'Hail and Ride' service and will stop directly outside Nursery Cottage on request (tell the driver we are by The Avenue).
- The local train station is Dunbridge, 10 minutes away by car. By special arrangement we can collect guests from the station.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities
- We are on the main street through the village.
- The entrance is via a level gravel driveway to the right of the property where there is parking at the side of the house.
- Access to the house is via the front door where there is one step with a threshold into the lobby. The entrance is lit by an outside light at night.
- Assistance with luggage is always offered to all guests.
- Guide dogs are welcome by arrangement and feeding and water bowls can be provided.
Main Entrance and Reception
- The front door has one step 24 cm high and a threshold 6cm high and is 90cm wide.
- Entrance is into the guest sitting room which is carpeted.
- Guests are escorted to their rooms and facilities are explained.
- Corridors have cream dado rails with contrasting colours on the walls.
Public Areas
General (Internal)
- Carpets are fitted to guest dining room, the 13 stairs, corridors, and guest bedrooms. The main bathroom has vinyl floor tiles and the ensuite bathroom is tiled.
- There are 13 stairs to the bedrooms which are carpeted and a handrail is fitted to the left
WC
- A small WC (not suitable for wheelchairs) is located on the ground floor.
- One double bedroom is en-suite.
- There is a main bathroom which has a bath and separate shower.
Dining Room
- Breakfast is served in the dining room. There are no steps.
- There is one large table which has an underspace of 66cm by 88 cm at the end and 146sm at the side (legs on each corner).
- There is a radio in the dining room which is generally on in the morning for breakfast but which can be turned off on request.
- The bed and breakfast is no smoking throughout the premises.
Laundry
- Use of our utility room can be arranged on request - please ask us.
Shop
- There are village shops in the neighbouring villages of Lockerley and West Tytherley.
Outdoor Facilities
- Guests are free to sit in the sheltered patio area but there are small step level differences.
- The garden can be accessed from the patio via steps.
Bedrooms
- All 3 bedrooms are on the first floor,with secure lockable doors.
- Televisions all have remote controls.
- A bell is provided in the central corridor to call for assistance.
- Carpets are all fitted short pile, with a tiled floor in the en-suite bathroom and vinyl floor tiles in the main bathroom.
- Two rooms have double beds and one room has twin single beds.
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC (Ensuite)
Main Bathroom
- Door width 67cm, inward opening
- The shower cubicle has a step/edge of 29cm high.
- The bath edge is 53cm high
- The basin is 78cm high.
- The toilet has available free space of 121cm to the right and stands 41cm high.
- Good colour contrast of floors, sanitary ware and walls.
Ensuite
- Door width 65cm, outward opening.
- The shower cubicle has a step/edge of 26cm high.
- The basin is 82cm high.
- The toilet is 43cm high.
Grounds and Gardens
- Guests have full access to the garden, which has a patio area and is mainly laid to lawn with flower beds and an orchard.
- There are a number of steps and level changes throughout the patio and garden area.
- Four chickens are kept at the end of the garden and their eggs are used for breakfast.
Additional Information
- Fridge facilities can be made available for guests in the kitchen downstairs.
